Perhaps the most famous smoked beer on the world originated in Bamberg, Germany as so-called Aecht Schenker Rauchbier, which is produced continuously for centuries. In the past, an open beech fire was used for drying malt, causing the malt to absorb the smoke flavorings which were later transferred to the beer. In Scotland, however, local peat was used for drying malt and subsequent production of exclusive Peated Whisky such as peat. Laphroaig and Talisker. Our next inspiration was traditional hot drink originating from cold mountains of Central Slovakia – Hriatô. The local lumberjacks found out that fat from seared smoked bacon dissolved in hot spirit gives them energy and decrease alcohol effect. The combination of caramel and smoked malt and smoked bacon juice therefore become the basis of our Wee Heavy. This premium Scotch Ale was due to its strenght often intended for export. Its the perfect drink for every lover of strong beer, Scotch whiskey and Slovak traditions.
