German beers from our archive

Wheat beers and other traditional German styles. Wheat beer is hazy, soft and very easy to drink.

How to read the beer details

The degree figure (for example 12°) is the Slovak way of stating a beer's strength. It shows how much malt sugar and other extract was in the wort, the sweet liquid that becomes beer once it ferments. A higher number usually means a fuller, stronger beer.

IPA stands for India Pale Ale. It's a pale beer with pronounced hop bitterness and aroma, often of citrus or tropical fruit.

Beer styles

Beer styles and how they are grouped are maintained by the international BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program). The pale lager most people here grew up with is just one of them. To keep things simple, we have sorted our beers into seven groups.
