In 1546 Ferdinant I. Habsbourg granted the Liberal city of Trenčín an exclusive right to brew a wheat beer, provided that the acquired money would be used for the purposes of city walls restoration. Historical sources claim that Trenečín wheat beer was famous even all the way in Vienna. It is our honor to be able to continue in this tradition. The wheat beer in the Lanius Brewery is produced in a German style Weizenbier (Weizen – ger. Wheat) with a ratio of more than 60% of wheat malt. This contributes to a silky smooth mouthfeel. Gentle hopping with German noble hops takes care of a subtle citrusy – herbal aroma and the special top fermenting yeast produces fruity flavor, especially ripe bananas, as well as cloves. All of this makes Weizenbier a beer refreshing in every season.
