Beer is brewed on the main square again

Craft beer brewed right in the heart of Trenčín

We are a brewpub in a historic house on Mierové námestie, the town's main square. There are 6 to 10 of our own beers on tap at any one time, and our kitchen cooks food that goes with them.

A house first recorded in 1649

Craft beer means work done by hand

Nothing here comes off a production line. We brew the beer, bottle it and stick on the labels ourselves. That lets us try styles you won't find in an ordinary pub and keep changing what's on tap.

It all happens in a house once owned by a butcher called Thomas Lanius. The brewery is named after him.

  • Our own beer on tap

6 to 10 beers at a time, and over the months we work our way through the world's beer styles.

  • A kitchen that cooks for beer

Our pork knuckle, ribs and pork collar are all marinated in our own dark beer.

  • A historic house

Renaissance stone portals and the original fireplace are a reminder that people lived here back in the 17th century.

History in numbers

Trenčín has brewed beer for centuries

Brewing in the town stopped at the end of the 19th century. We brought it back to the main square.

  1. 1380

King Louis I granted Trenčín the right to brew and sell beer.

  2. 1546

Ferdinand I restored the town's exclusive right to brew wheat beer.

  3. 1649

First record of our house, then owned by Thomas Lanius.

  4. 1708

The town brewery burnt down and soon started brewing barley beer.

What you can taste

Lager is only the beginning

In Slovakia most people think of beer as a pale lager. We love it too, but it's just one of many styles the world has to offer. Bit by bit we bring you all the important ones and their variations.

  • American

Lots of hops with aromas of citrus and tropical fruit. IPA is the classic example.

  • Belgian

The yeast gives them spicy, fruity aromas. A refreshing saison is one of them.

  • British

Balanced ales with a malty flavour and gentle bitterness, easy to enjoy all evening.

  • Irish

Dark beers made with roasted malt, with hints of coffee and dark chocolate, such as stout.

  • German

Wheat beers and other traditional styles from a country with a very long brewing history.

  • Specialities

Beers with fruit, milk stouts and other brews where the brewer can really play.

Food to go with beer

Our best dishes are cooked in beer

We marinate the boneless pork knuckle and pork ribs in our own dark beer before roasting them, then serve them with pickles, mustard, horseradish and bread. Main courses take about 20 to 30 minutes.

  • Roast pork knuckle in dark beer

400 g of boneless meat with mustard, horseradish and bread.

  • Roast pork ribs in dark beer

400 g, with pickles, mustard and horseradish.

  • Pork collar in dark beer

    Grilled, with oven-baked potatoes.

  • Burgers in our homemade beer bun

Beef, pulled pork, chicken or vegetarian.

Fancy something lighter? Try the pickled camembert, a Slovak pickled sausage, bryndza dumplings or one of our salads.
