Sahti is the representative of centuries old beer style from Finland. The barrels of the remains of this traditional drink have even been found in the sunken Viking ships. Due to the local ingredients used in production, the taste and color of Sahti was not uniform, so we followed the general guidlines. Wort consist of malted barley and wheat, along with special dark rye malt. This cereal mixture is then lautered through the bed of localy picked juniper branches. The short boil of wort ensures sterilization of the beverage and retains the proteins, leaving Sahti with dense body and full flavor. We added hops only in a minimal amount, the slightly spicy bitterness is gained from the juniper berries. Therefore, Sahti has a characteristic flavor similar to Slovak national drink – borovička. Nazdravie (cheers), or Finnish: Kippis!
